Executive Directors


The UADC by-laws envision the UADC as a representative democracy. As such, the Executive Directors have been granted full power and authority over the affairs of the UADC with the exception of certain decisions reserved in the by-laws for the exclusive consideration of General Council. The will of the Executive Directors is expressed in Executive Policy which the Executive Directors shall revise from time to time, as it deems necessary.

Previous experiments with a divided board of directors and executive were found to be unsuccessful, so the executive currently embodies these two functions making it responsible for UADC policy as well as administration of UADC activities.

The Executive consists of nine officers, seven of which must be Students' Union members in accordance with University of Alberta regulations. General Council elects the nine officers for a one-year term during the Annual General Meeting held every March. Vacancies are generally filled in by-elections as required.

The Executive Directors meet at least once a month to formally consider business.
